No threat to government from any ‘grand alliance’: Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashique Awan on Sunday said there was no threat to the government from any grand alliance.
Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), Dr Firdous said the formation and break-up of alliances were a part of democratic traditions. It was the right of every political party and the government would welcome any grand alliance if formed, she added.
She said the act of any party or alliance to conspire against a democratic government or destabilize it under the cover of such democratic rights was highly condemnable.
Responding to a question minister said since the PPP and its allied parties had a majority in the parliament so they had a democratic right to rule the country.
“It is the right of government to discourage the elements who want to destabilise the country by spreading unrest,” she added.
She further said Nawaz Sharif was just trying to eliminate his party’s political isolation.
